Spinal Manipulation

Spinal Manipulation, also known as spinal adjustment, is a therapeutic procedure primarily used by chiropractors to treat musculoskeletal conditions. Chiropractors use their hands to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint (high velocity, low amplitude thrust). The aim is to restore mobility, reduce pain and promote overall health. The movement in the spinal joints can result in an audible "click" or "pop", which is caused by the realease of gas bubbles within the joint fluid. The sound is not necessarily indicative of the success or effectiveness of the treatment. Some effects of spinal manipulations are: *Increase in the range of motion *Reduction of pain *Reduced muscle tension *Increased blood flow *Increased secretion of melatonin

Manual Flexion

Flexion distraction is a gentle, non-surgical technique designed to improve spinal mobility and relieve pressure from bulging or herniated discs. This safe, non-force procedure helps reduce stress on injured spinal nerves without traditional spinal adjustments. During the treatment, your chiropractor performs slow, controlled movements while a portion of the specialized table moves or drops slightly. This motion uses gravity to enhance the stretch, promoting proper spinal alignment and easing discomfort.

Ergonomic Advice

Chiropractors advise on ergonomic practices like maintaining proper posture, taking frequent breaks, and setting up workstations correctly to support spinal health.

Joint Mobilization

Joint mobilization is a manual therapy technique used by chiropractors to improve joint function, reduce pain, and increase range of motion. The chiropractor uses their hands to apply controlled pressure and gentle rhythmic movements to the joint surfaces. The goals of joint mobilizations are: *Increasing joint mobility *Reducing pain *Improving function *Enhancing proprioception

Cervical Distraction

Cervical traction is a gentle manual technique, used by chiropractors to apply a controlled traction force to the cervical spine, or neck. The traction helps create space between the joints in the neck, correcting joint or meniscus impingements, reducing disc compression, and promoting disc hydration. It also relieves pressure on irritated nerves while stretching the joint capsules, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Together, these effects help decrease pain, inflammation, and nerve irritation, improving mobility, posture, and overall mind-body awareness.

Paediatric care

Childhood is a time of constant growth and activity. As children learn to crawl, walk, and play, small falls and bumps are inevitable. While these may seem harmless, they can sometimes affect the spine and lead to minor misalignments, or subluxations. Paediatric chiropractic care helps address these issues early on. Spinal misalignments can interfere with the nervous system’s function, potentially contributing to problems like headaches, colic, or reflux. Gentle chiropractic adjustments help realign the spine, supporting better overall health and development. Because children’s bodies are still growing, early chiropractic care can help ensure proper spinal alignment, relieve muscle tension, and promote long-term wellness.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a specialized form of deep-tissue therapy designed to help athletes and active individuals prepare for and recover from intense physical activity. It targets specific muscle groups that are heavily used during sports and exercise. Increasingly popular among athletes, this treatment helps enhance performance, reduce muscle tension, and prevent injuries.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a chiropractic technique used to release trigger points—small, tight knots in the muscles that can cause pain and discomfort. During the procedure, the chiropractor gently inserts fine, sterile needles into these trigger points to stimulate a localized twitch response. This helps break down scar tissue, relieve muscle tension, and restore normal movement. By directly addressing the source of muscle tightness, dry needling provides fast and targeted pain relief.

Kinesiology taping

Kinesio taping is a therapeutic method that uses an elastic cotton tape applied to the skin to support and stabilize muscles, joints, and soft tissues. Unlike traditional athletic tape, kinesio tape mimics the natural elasticity of skin and muscles, allowing full movement while still providing effective support.

Stretches

Chiropractors prescribe specific stretches to enhance flexibility, improve range of motion, and strengthen supporting muscles—helping maintain proper posture and reduce the risk of injury. Incorporating these targeted stretches into a treatment plan addresses muscle tightness or weakness that contributes to spinal issues and helps sustain the benefits of spinal adjustments between visits.
